Dear Lazies, welcome back!
Even if we spent some of the hot summer months rather lazily, this summer was quite different from our prior years at Lazy Women. There has been a lot of work, meetings, and collaborations going on in our virtual hubs, which followed right after our strictly email-free holidays. Our crowdfunding task force has been working tirelessly on the preparations for our Lazy Revolution crowdfunding campaign alongside a number of extremely creative artists, social media wizards, and copywriting geniuses.
We have all been working toward the same goal: taking Lazy Women to the next level by creating a fair, caring, and loving workplace with financial stability for all the deserving people listed above and many more.
In this newsletter, you will learn more about how you can get involved in our campaign, as well as the programme for our upcoming launch party in Paris already this Saturday (expect names of badass female musicians and feminist thinkers, as well as fun & adventurous or occasionally painful activities - we'll get to that later ;)). You can also look forward to a run-down of our newest articles and our Lazy summer leisure stories - because we definitely had a blast.
So keep reading and Join our Lazy Revolution!
We cannot believe that in just a few days, we are finally launching our first-ever crowdfunding campaign!
It has been an extremely intense couple of weeks, but we are beyond excited for this new chapter of Lazy Women and for having you by our side during the process.
This campaign presents a major stepping stone for the future of our platform, and we will need all the help that we can get if we want to bring our Lazy Revolution to life.
Ready to join us for the ride?
Here are the main things that you can do today to help us get a step closer. Because we really cannot do this without you ❤️
If you have not done so already, please pre-register at our crowdfunding site, so that you do not miss any updates and will be the first one to know when we hit the launch button. Pre-registrations are extremely important because they help to spotlight our campaign on the crowdfunding site, attracting even more supporters. We are planning an exclusive campaign launch for our newsletter subscribers already a few days earlier on September 28th (this Thursday!) at 8:00 CET to celebrate this big step together (and to let you snatch the best campaign rewards!). You are the core of our community and we want to share this special moment with you first. So keep your eyes peeled on your inbox for the big news - your support means the absolute world.
In Paris on Saturday, September 30th? Then join us in Velvet Moon for our exclusive crowdfunding launch party! We have planned an amazing evening filled with music, art, special guests, signature drinks, and community love, with Lazies coming from all over Europe just for this occasion. This is a party not to be missed and we cannot wait to see you all there. The entry is free, we will just need you to RVSP here.
September 30th will also be the day of our official public campaign launch, going live at 12:00 (noon) - the moment to share the #LazyRevolution23 with all your friends on social media before heading to Velvet Moon to join the celebrations!Sunday To-Dos
If you’re on Instagram: on 1 October, Sunday, at 12:00 (noon) CET, post a picture of yourself on Instagram using the #LazyRevolution filter. Take a snap and show that you belong to our movement❤️

3 Years of Not So Lazy Rebellion: Interview with Lazy Women founder Zsofi Borsi
In the past weeks, we have been joined by many new followers and made so many amazing connections through our live meet-ups and events! We wanted to take a second to recap the history of the Lazy Women and tell you more about what is cooking for us in the future.
Last month, Lazy Women founder Zsofi Borsi talked to Népszava Online about our journey, values, and the motivation behind Lazy Women. It has been 3 years now that we have been creating a unique feminist community and media platform, all based on volunteer work of our members coming from all over the world. While it allowed us to bring forward unique voices and experiences, we look forward to kickstarting a new era of the Lazy Revolution and make Lazy Women a real feminist workplace.
The article was originally published in Hungarian and translated into English by our one and only Lazy Lauren.
How motherhood changed my idea of productivity
Being productive is being able to sleep for three hours straight at night. "Becoming a mother was a total change of perspective and made me reassess how I think of productivity and laziness", writes Lazy Selin in her beautiful reflection on motherhood and productivity.
Sheba Q: Music and Math Make My World Go Round
It was clear to Sheba Q early on that music was her calling, but building a community within the #Jungle and #DJ sphere as a Black woman presented challenges along the way. She didn’t want to be “good for a girl” or a “token Black DJ,” an isolating experience she endured at the beginning of her career. A fascinating new artist interview by Lily Guthrie.
🏖️We know that for many of you, September will always equal this nudging ‘back to school’ feeling and all the stress and new beginnings that come along with it. But you know us, instead of scrolling through the latest productivity hacks and 6 a.m. routines, we at Lazy Women decided to take things slow and use this opportunity to have one last look at the shiny season we have just left behind. We asked our Lazies to share with us their favourite summer moments, interesting reads, and new listens and hope that you will also find some calm and inspiration in them ❤️
⛲Lazy Lauren spent her best summer moments in Santorini, Greece, where she attended the wedding of one of her best friends. Inspired by the island’s beautiful architecture, she dived knees deep into Greek myths. Her personal reading tip is Greek Myths: A New Retelling by Charlotte Higgins, a beautifully illustrated collection focused on weaving. Combine it with Madeline Miller’s Circe for even more ancient Greek drama or Susanna Clarke’s Piranesi. We are definitely adding all three to our #tbr list!📚
🎤When in Santorini, Lauren also found herself at the Kamari Open Air Cinema on the eve of her friend’s wedding, devouring a nostalgic watch of Mamma Mia with about 50 other wedding guests - an absolute highlight of the entire trip and a tip for anyone who is also planning their (next) trip to Greece.
💼Would you rather leave the summer heat behind and focus on the now? For anyone struggling to jumpstart their career this month, Lauren recommends listening to the Squiggly Careers podcast, which focuses on different areas of career development with clear actionable ideas. The episodes are super short (only 7 mins!), so a perfect background noise while having a shower or on a grocery run.
🚿Lazy Dinara has finally managed to visit her friends and family in Kazakhstan and come back nice and refreshed. While scrolling through TikTok over the summer, she noticed that the previously laid-back and cute cottage core aesthetic took on a much more conservative, white supremacist, and misogynist shift. She finds this form of messaging dangerous and wonders what is actually happening on the deep end of the Trad Wives feed. If anyone else is also confused by cottage core’s transformation and wants to know more, Kathryn Jezer-Morton’s insightful and critical take on this previously idyllic trend might be a good start, followed by Anne Helen Peterson's article for Elle.
🍲Dinara has also been rewatching The Bear, a hit FX show and an incredibly saucy exploration of family, trauma, and creativity. This time around, it made her interested in further exploring the world of fine-dining chefs and its gender dynamics. She was mostly curious to see whether in the past couple of years the industry became more open and welcoming to women. Despite the fact that women used to be presented as ‘belonging to the kitchen’ (even if rarely out of their own choice or calling), fine dining cooking is primarily portrayed as a male-dominated discipline. I mean, have you seen The Menu?
👩🍳After some research, it became clear to her that despite certain improvements, the reality for women in fine dining remains fairly bleak, as this New York Times article about Slovenian Michelin star chef Ana Ros attests to.
"The world of fine dining is still a boys’ club: About 6 percent of Michelin-starred restaurants are run by women, according to a 2022 analysis by Chef’s Pencil, an online publication about cooking and the restaurant world. […] [I]n her career, Ms. Ros described facing added scrutiny because of her gender. People in the industry have often called her a ‘marketing story,’ she said, assuming she didn’t have the talent to justify her success. During visits to her restaurant, where a multicourse tasting menu costs 255 euros ($280), colleagues were sometimes surprised by the quality of the food. ‘Why are you surprised?’ she said. Of course, they think Hisa Franko is where it is, and I am where I am, because I’m a woman.”
🤔Intrigued to learn more about these topics? We suggest moving on to this podcast exploring the new crisis of masculinity, Anita Chaudhuri's article on female-only cohousing communities, this insightful episode of How to Talk to People exploring the perks of shared living, or our very own Dinara’s and Aizada’s conversation reflecting on female friendships and alternative ways of belonging. Enjoy! :)
Finally, scroll through the Lazies’ favourite summer memories!
That would be all for now. Don’t forget to check out our campaign page and see you very soon for our secret launch! There will be rewards in limited stock, so do not wait too long.
