Dear Lazies,
On this Tuesday, on Halloween Eve, at 20:00, the curtains closed on our Lazy Revolution Crowdfunding. We are truly grateful for all your support that allowed us to raise over 7,000 EUR with 178 contributions from all over the world.
However, as we previously stated, we went all in on this campaign and operated on an all-or-nothing basis. Our initial goal was 15,000 EUR because this was the lowest amount that would allow us to fulfill our goal: get a fully secure financial basis for next year, fairly compensate our contributors, and pay for all the necessary administrative and technical fees. Anything short of that target meant we won't receive any of the funds collected. Rest assured, every single backer are being automatically refunded within the next few days.
However, if you still believe in the Lazy Revolution and would like to support our work through other means, you can re-donate your contribution to our new donation page and directly impact our future.
This Wednesday, our members gathered for a hot tea (or Glühwein) and discussed in a virtual room how they are feeling about the outcome when looking into the future and what happened during the campaign.
While we are naturally disappointed about not reaching our goal, we strongly believe that the past month of campaigning and the six months of preparation that preceded the crowdfunding were not for nothing. As we looked at each other on Zoom, all smiling but with slightly bittersweet sparkles in our eyes, we knew this couldn’t mean an end but a new beginning. We honestly talked about how it felt to work on the campaign on top of everything else, which factors we had an influence on and which elements were completely out of our hands. How excited we are for future projects (see more details below) and what new turns our fate could take in 2024.
The Lazy Revolution campaign has stretched our limits and demonstrated the collective strength of our community. It united us as a team and showed us one undeniable truth: the heart of Lazy Women is our unique community, one that remains open and adaptable and that will continue to welcome all of you with open arms.
Because you showed your support in so many ways! We read a myriad of messages that gave us an extra shot of motivation during and after the campaign.
“The content was really meaningful for me. And I listen almost all the podcasts. 😍I will follow for more.”
“First of all, congratulations for the event and for the launch of the campaign. It has to be a huge success and professional achievement 👏I saw the dissemination on social networks and honestly I am very happy (and proud) of you.”
”hey zsofi'! was really lovely to meet u this evening & hear all about lazy women 💜can’t wait for future opportunities to hang/talk w the women who were here tonight!”
“Hey Zsofi, congratulations on the launch! It’s looking very cool and I really like the page you’ve made for it. Hope it all went well yesterday!”
“Teljesen megértem, október második fele is jó lesz!:) El tudom képzelni mennyi befektetett munka van a kampányban! Majd LinkedIn is megosztom és drukkolok nagyon hogy összejöjjön 🤩🙏✨✨✨”
“Hey, I just wanted to write you and tell you that I really enjoyed the event yesterday! Lazy Women is so important and beautiful project and I hope it will all work out. I have already donated 🤞🤞🤞💗my friends loved it as well.”
Not only on social media but in person, you made such lovely comments about the campaign page (huge appreciation to our visual team!), at the launch party and we cannot even cite all the verbal support we received from friends, family, mentors & Lazy Women from all around the world in the past month.
We thank you all for your unconditional support! 💖💖💖
In addition to the campaign, we want to highlight some of our other significant achievements this month:
We hosted an unforgettable Launch Party at Velvet Moon in Paris, attended by over 100 participants and volunteers from all over Europe. The event featured a panel discussion with Alice Cappelle (listen to it here) and extraordinary performances by Luxie, Lox, and MUJU.
Led by Dorina, Lazy Women organized a Hungarian Feminist Creator Brunch and Workshop that brought together influential feminist voices from Hungary. Together, they created a collaborative artwork that reflects the idea that "the personal is political” and brainstormed about an exciting campaign for next year.
Lazy Women had the honor of being interviewed by France24, a major French TV channel. Our dedicated contributor, Selin Bucak, represented our movement and spoke about our mission.
Our editor-in-chief, Zsofi, was invited to participate in an exclusive female founders' dinner in Paris organized by the female factor. She had the opportunity to introduce Lazy Women to accomplished female leaders from various backgrounds.
Lucie, our podcast coordinator and executive team member, was featured in the Bloom newsletter on social impact, you can read it here.
Last but certainly not least, we are delighted to announce that Lazy Women has been commissioned by Display Europe, a new European media initiative, to produce a brand-new podcast series titled 'Making It' in Western Europe: Experiences of Young Eastern-European Women. You can look forward to this new series on the Lazy Women Podcast in early 2024!🎉
We are immensely proud of the progress we've made, and this wouldn't have been possible without your support, kind words, and belief in Lazy Women.
To show our appreciation, we would like to offer you the opportunity to re-donate the amount you contributed to the crowdfunding campaign directly to Lazy Women on our new donations page. We've recalculated the numbers: the 7,000 EUR collected would enable us to fund one article and illustration per month (at 100 EUR per contribution) for a year, in addition to covering the majority of our administrative, website, and accounting costs. In return for your generous contribution, we'd like to send you our special Digital Zine reward, featuring five brand-new illustrated essays and some of the best content our community has ever produced.
While not reaching our crowdfunding goal will mean that things will have to change, it doesn't mark the end of our project. In fact, it's a new beginning. We'll spend November resting and reflecting and return with fresh ideas on how to transform Lazy Women into a sustainable, genuine feminist media platform.
Once again, our heartfelt gratitude goes out to each and every one of you.
With much love from the entire Lazy Women team,
Our executive team: Lucie Hunter, Dorina Nagy, Zsofi Borsi
Our visual & social media team: Dinara Satbayeva, Tímea Terenyei, Eszti Balázs, Selen Sarıkaya
Our editors and partnership coordinators: Ayse Göç, Lauren Powell, Janka Novák, Johanna Ács, Una Connolly, Becky Percival, Lucy Barabas, Sterre Jansen, Viola Vignati
…and all of our amazing members who make up our Lazy community.
